It’s Monday and we’re hungry! We gave you a list of the 10 foods teens should eat in our September issue and now we want to show you some tasty ways to prepare them. Start the week off right with a simple, healthy, and delicious recipe that focuses on teen nutrition and that even the most kitchen-newbie can create. This week, Spicy Mango Salsa
You’ll love the combination of flavors in this spicy, sweet salsa. Put it on top of anything to add a health kick to you dish!
- 1 ripe mango (You can tell if it’s ready by gently squeezing it. The mango should be soft, but not mushy. If it’s not ready yet, leave it in a paper bag to speed up the ripening process.)
- hot sauce
- Cut the mango by standing it on its stem and pressing a sharp knife into the top of it until you hit the pit. Then make a cut sliding the knife down the side of the pit, repeat on the other side so you separate two halves.
- Take both halves and cut lines vertically and horizontally to form cubes, making sure not to cut through the skin. Peel skin of with your fingers, or slide a knife underneath to separate the cubes from the skin.
- Sprinkle with hot sauce and salt.
*Bonus: Stir in a half cup of beans to make a super healthy taco filling.
